Help General Instructions

This guide will help you upgrade from v3.41, v3.50, v3.51 and v3.55 ("old versions") to v3.60 ("new version") of "Chicken Invaders: Revenge of the Yolk". Upgrading is automatically performed when the new version is installed on top of an existing installation.

Upgrading will allow you to keep your existing profile data when installing a newer version of the game. Your profile consists of several different kinds of data, and not everything will be upgraded:

Career
Career data will be upgraded fully.
High scores
The high score table will not be upgraded. If you have any new scores that you haven't uploaded yet, then submit them using your old version before upgrading.
Mission data
Mission data will not be upgraded. If you have a mission in progress, then complete it first before upgrading.
Game options
Game settings (anything you have changed within the "Options" menu) will not be upgraded.

Help Getting ready to upgrade

In order to determine whether your particular installation of the game can be successfully upgraded, go through the following checklist:

  1. You must have at least v3.41 installed. Any other previous versions won't work.
  2. You must have the registered version. Demo versions cannot be upgraded.
  3. You must have an InterAction studios "pack" version (i.e., purchased directly from this site). If you've purchased the game on any other site, upgrading won't work.
  4. Standard and Christmas editions are upgraded separately. You cannot upgrade from a Standard to a Christmas Edition or vice versa.
  5. U3 and hard disk (HDD) versions are upgraded separately. You cannot update from a U3 to an HDD version or vice versa.
  6. If you're upgrading from v3.41, you must install the new version in the same folder (directory) where you installed the old version.

Help Mac OS X: upgrading from non-sandboxed to sandboxed apps

This section is only relevant if you have a non-sandboxed Mac version of the game that you wish to upgrade to a sandboxed version.

Starting December 2012, all Mac games are sandboxed. Sandboxing causes the game's data to be stored in a different location than previous non-sandboxed versions. To properly upgrade from a non-sandboxed to a sandboxed version, you need to manually copy the game's data files as follows.

  1. Locate the non-sandboxed data files in : ~/Library/Application Support/InterAction studios . You can open the Library folder by going to Finder, selecting the 'Go' menu, then holding down the Alt/Option key. The Library folder will appear in the list of menu items so it can be selected.
  2. Inside the non-sandboxed "InterAction studios" folder you will see sub-folders named after various InterAction studios games. Locate the exact folder you're interested in and copy it.
  3. Launch the sandboxed version of the game once to create the sandboxed data folder.
  4. Locate the sandboxed data files in : ~/Library/containers/???/Data/Library/Application Support/InterAction studios. The "???" part should be replaced by the particular game you're interested in. If you purchased your game directly from our website, then ??? is an app package in the form com.interactionstudios.??? that you need to Ctrl-Click and select "Show Package Contents". If you purchased your game directly from Apple's Mac Store, then it's a normal folder named in the form com.interactionstudios.osx.???. In either case, the last part of the name should correspond to the folder name that you copied in step (2).
  5. Delete anything you see inside the "InterAction studios" sandboxed folder (do not delete the "InterAction studios' folder itself, only delete its contents)
  6. Copy the folder from step (2) inside the sandboxed "InterAction studios" folder. Double check that you are copying a folder named after the game which was originally contained in the non-sandboxed "InterAction studios" folder to the sandboxed "InterAction studios" folder.
